What are some of the classes offered to Madison Academy's high school students?
Madison Academy offers a variety of classes, including Bible, English, history, math, science, foreign language, strength and conditioning, and life skills. MA also offers three Pathways of Distinction: Eden Engineering, Mustang Medical Academy, and Vocational Exploration.
Students also have the opportunity to register for 11 dual enrollment, 7 advanced placement, and 16 honors courses on campus, in addition to enrolling in dual credit courses at numerous universities to meet students’ needs.
Does Madison Academy offer a program in the fine arts?
Madison Academy offers an extensive array of fine arts featuring visual arts, band, chorus, and theater.
Is there a minimum age requirement to enroll in the PK4 and Kindergarten program at Madison Academy?
To enroll in our PK4 program, your child must be four years old by September 1. For our kindergarten program, your child must be five years old by September 1.
What are the typical class sizes at Madison Academy?
Madison Academy is committed to maintaining small class sizes and fostering an environment where every student is known, noticed, and needed.
- PK4: Approximately sixteen students per teacher and aide
- Kindergarten through Grade 5: Approximately sixteen students per class
- Grade 6: Approximately twenty students per class
- Grade 7 through 12: Class sizes vary greatly depending on the course level and the content offerings; however, classes are capped at 24 students.
Does Madison Academy have a school nurse on staff?
Yes! Madison Academy has two full-time Registered Nurses who promote student health and well-being on our campus. Our nurses offer immediate care for illnesses and injuries and manage emergency situations, including administering medications and maintaining emergency protocols. They also educate our students, staff, and parents about health topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
Collaborating closely with teachers and parents, Madison Academy's nurses address health concerns proactively and promote a safe school environment that supports student learning and overall wellness.
Does Madison Academy provide academic or athletic scholarships?
While Madison Academy does NOT offer academic or athletic scholarships, families are eligible to apply for tuition assistance. Additionally, Madison Academy accepts need-based scholarships from programs such as Rocket City SGO and Scholarships for Kids, providing financial support options for families who qualify.
Can a student transfer to Madison Academy and be immediately eligible to play sports if they receive financial assistance?
According to the Alabama High School Athletic Association, any student who transfers to Madison Academy and is awarded financial aid is prohibited from competing in a sport for a full year following their transfer.
Note: This rule DOES NOT apply to students who transfer to Madison Academy for the first time in Grade 7. Students in Grade 7 who transfer to Madison Academy after the school year begins are subject to this rule.
Are uniforms required for students?
Madison Academy students wear a casual uniform, which includes khaki bottoms from any retailer and a Spirit Wear top that can be purchased through the Madison Academy School Store.
