Visual Arts

    Our Mission

     

    The mission of the Visual Arts program at Madison Academy is to:

    • Offer a curriculum that provides an extensive and comprehensive foundation of art experiences.
    • Actively participate in exhibition opportunities on a local, regional, state and national levels.
    • Prepare students for advanced study and entry into art related professional fields.
    • Establish technology as an integral component of each student's creative experience.

    Course offerings for middle school includes art once a week for all sixth grade students. Art is offered as an elective to seventh and eighth grade students. It is a yearlong course that meets daily. In high school course offerings include Art I, Art II, and Studio Art.

    Overview of Program

     

    Each class is taught in a studio framework format. Students learn how to manipulate the principles and elements of art while they develop technical skills with various tools and media. As students continue to advance in the visual arts program they will build on prior experiences and knowledge so to prepare them for advanced studies and entry into art related professional fields.
