Mustang Football Coaching Staff
Head Coach Eric Cohu

In his 3 years at the helm of the Madison Academy Football program, Head Coach Eric Cohu has guided the Mustangs to 2 Elite Eight playoff appearances (2009, 2010), and a State Runner-Up team in 2011, compiling a record of 24 – 5. For 2011, he was named the Huntsville Times Coach of the Year, and in 2010 he was selected to coach in the Alabama North-South All-Star game. In his 3 years, he has guided two Mustangs to Division I football scholarships (SEC and ACC), and has helped place several others with Division II scholarships.
His resume includes an appointment as the Assistant Professor of Sports Management at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and as a football coach at Liberty Christian Academy. Dr. Cohu (pronounced co-hue) also served on the Board of Directors of the Central Virginia Fellowship of Christian Athletes. During his two years at LCA, the team had a 21-1 record with a Virginia Division I State Championship in 2007. Cohu also holds a 38-12 record as a head coach during his tenure at Jackson Christian in Jackson, Tennessee.
Dr. Cohu also serves as a consultant to the Israel Football League, sponsored by the Kraft Family, owners of the New England Patriots. He has been making annual trips to Israel since 2007 to conduct summer camps and coaching seminars/clinics for the league.

Coach Shannon Wimberly is the Quarterbacks Coach, and also serves as Director of Football Operations as well as the Head Junior Varsity coach.
Coach Bobby Chandler is the Defensive Coordinator.
Coach Chris Hirschfield serves as the Wide Receivers coach. He played football at the University of West Georgia.
Coach Granville LeCroix coaches the Offensive and Defensive Line. He played football at Alabama A&M University.
Coach Mark Berryman serves as the Defensive Backs coach.
Coach Gary Mayes assists with the Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs. He played football at Tennessee Tech University.
Coach Ken Ricketts coaches the tight ends, and serves as Equipment Manager.
Athletic Trainer Shane Harris earned a BS and Masters degree in exercise science and athletic training from Brigham Young University, where he served as an assistant trainer for the BYU Football program.
Andy McCloy, owner of Body Creations, Inc., works with the team as the Strength and Conditioning Consultant, designing and overseeing a year-round workout program tailored to the individual student-athlete.
