A Message from the Director of Advancement, J. Glen Laird

/files/images/Web/Glenusapic.jpgOn behalf of President Robert F. Burton and the Madison Academy Board of Directors, the Office of Development would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our financial supporters. Together, we have formed a partnership to provide an outstanding education to hundreds of young people each year in a nurturing Christian environment.

Why give?  There is nothing like the joy of supporting a cause that has captured your heart.  We believe Madison Academy is making a difference in the lives of young people.  We believe that tomorrow's leader is in today's classroom.  We believe that a balanced education is more than reading, writing, and arithmetic.  It teaches the importance of serving God and man.

For more than 50 years, Madison Academy has served families by providing a balanced educational experience focused on excellence.  As Christian educators we teach children that they are endowed by their creator with gifts, and we help them discover their unique purpose.  We provide our students with facilities and technology geared to learning in the new millennium.  Our educators are committed to challenging students to give their best to all endeavors.  At the same time, Madison Academy students learn that some of life's greatest joys come from giving.  Our students are given opportunities to serve abandoned children in Mexico, Ecuador, and Ghana.  They serve local organizations like ARC, The Link, and the Downtown Rescue Mission.  Add to these things Madison Academy's outstanding reputation for athletic success and you can see why we think we are successful at delivering balance and excellence.

Q: Why is Madison Academy a private school?
Madison Academy is a non-profit organization.  We are a Christian school, and faith is woven throughout our tapestry of programs.  Because of this, we do not receive funding from local, state, or federal governments.  Instead, we rely on tuition, annual funding, and other fundraising activities to survive.  Madison Academy is governed by a Board of Directors and is independent from local city and county school boards.

Q: Independent schools are expensive.  Why must money be raised every year in addition to tuition?
Like most independent schools, Madison Academy charges tuition that covers only a portion of the costs of educating each student.  Madison Academy relies on the Annual Fund to help bridge the gap between tuition and operating expenses.  If tuition and fees were raised to cover the gap, it would create a financial hardship for many of our families therefore affecting the economic diversity that we value.  Our operating budget's main expenses include faculty salaries and benefits, educational materials, and maintenance.

We believe that together we can make a difference.  If you share that faith, please help us with your financial support.

    God bless,

    J. Glen Laird
