Andy Blackston Varsity Boys Head Coach
We are excited to have Andy Blackston as our new Head Coach for Boys’ Varsity Basketball. Andy comes to us from Clarksville, Tennessee, where he served as Head Women’s’ Basketball Coach at Austin Peay State University for the past three years. While there, he was named Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year, and took the Lady Governors to the NCAA tournament.
Andy is a graduate of David Lipscomb University, and played point guard there for Don Meyer, serving as Team Captain for three years. After graduating Magna Cum Laude as an Academic All-American, he earned a Masters’ Degree in Sports Administration at APSU, while serving there as a graduate assistant for men’s basketball. From there, he worked as Head Assistant Coach of the men’s basketball team at UAH, and then Head Coach of the UAH Lady Chargers, where he was named Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year. While at APSU and UAH, he led the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program.

Brian Privette Varsity Girls Head Coach
Brian graduated from Arab High School, Arab, Alabama in 1995. He then signed an athletic scholarship with the Faulkner University eagles Basketball program. Brian was red-shirted as a freshmen and then played four years for Jim Sanderson (son of former UA Coach Wimp Sanderson). Brian’s team went from winning just over half its games to setting the school record for wins with a 30-6 record in his Senior year, 2000. That same year, they also won the Conference Championship and finished in the Elite Eight in the National Championship Tournament. The following year Coach Sanderson led the Eagles all the way to win the NAIA Division I National Championship.
Brian taught and coached Varsity Girls basketball for two years at Christian Home and Bible School just North of Orlando, Florida. His team won the Area Championship in 2001 and finished in the Florida sweet sixteen. In 2002 his girls were Area runner-up and also finished in the sweet sixteen.
Brian and his wife Melinda also have two children, Libby and Sydney. |
