Wow, what a great concert last night! All of the ensembles had great performances! The students have been working really hard for the past few weeks, and it really showed last night. I also appreciate the great audience we had last night. Thank you for taking time out of your busy
schedule to come and support the band program.
I also want to thank the parents who helped set up the reception, and the parents and students who helped take equipment back down to the band room after the concert. THANK YOU!!!!
Now that the concert is over, we just have a couple of events left on the band calendar. The Band Banquet is on Friday, May 16th with the dinner starting at 5:30pm. Also, we have the Marching Band clinic on Saturday, May 17th from 9am - Noon. If you have any questions about either of these events, please e-mail me.
Thanks for a great year, and I wish the students "good luck" on their exams!

Dear Band Parents,
The Concert last night was wonderful! All of the students did a great job, and I'm very proud of them for the hard work they put in to prepare for the concert. A special thanks to the students and parents who helped set up everything, from moving percussion equipment around to setting up for the reception after the concert. THANK YOU!!!!
I know there were a lot of band parents and students that were busy last night and could not attend the meeting, so I thought I would go ahead and send an e-mail out with the information that was discussed last night. I know it is lengthy, but if you can read all of it and answer all the items I am proposing, it will help me with my plans for the rest of this year AND next year.
1. We are looking for officers for next year's Band Boosters. The President, Secretary, and Treasurer positions have already been filled, but we need a Vice-President for next year. We also have secondary positions available in Fundraising, Hospitality, Uniforms, and Transportation/Equipment. If you are interested in being a Band Booster officer next year, please e-mail me at lcrews@macademy.org.
2. We are trying to get the MA Marching Band re-started. Last night, we had several parents and students that got up during the meeting and discussed what Marching Band meant to them, and how important it is to instill discipline, pride, and leadership in the students. We also
discussed the fact that we have had several younger students (7th graders) participate in the marching band in the past, so age is not an issue if the students are willing and able to put in the extra time and effort. In order to see how much interest there is in re-starting the marching band
at MA, there will be a Marching Band Clinic on Saturday, May 17th (time TBA). This clinic will teach the students the "basics" of marching band. We will also be having a Pre-Band Camp in July (dates TBA) for all students who are interested in participating in the Marching Band next
year. If your student is interested in coming to the clinic in May, or to the Pre-Camp in July, or if you just have general questions about the marching band, please e-mail me at lcrews@macademy.org.
3. And finally, we are planning on going to Disney World next year! I don't have exact dates and prices yet, but I will be working with Margie Smith to get everything planned before this school year ends. This trip will be open to band students (and their parents) who are in the 7th-12th
grade next year. The important thing to remember is this - since we are going down there to do a performance, we need to have enough students sign up for the trip (with the correct balance of instruments) in order to make it happen. If you are interested in going to Disney World next year, or if you have questions about the trip, please e-mail me at lcrews@macademy.org.
If you would like to discuss any of these issues with me in person, you can call me at school (971-1624) or at home (721-9192). Or, if you would like to talk face-to-face, please stop by the Band Room and I will be happy to answer any questions you have. Thanks so much for your time and attention, and I hope everyone has a great day!
